The U-1000 is the classic "new series"
Unimog for municipal use. As a modern replacement for the venerable U-900
family, it is based on the SBU series with a high visibility steel cab,
seating for 3, and offers a heated safety glass windshield. The Unimog
U-1000 features the compact 104" wheelbase, a GVW of 15,000 lbs..
It uses the world proven, naturally aspirated Mercedes-Benz OM 352 diesel
engine. Rated output is 95 HP, making the U-1000 a real "fuel miser".
24 speed transmissions, PTO's front and rear, Hydraulics
front and rear, and a 3-way dump bed for cargo use are common features on the U-1000. Typically, this UNIMOG type has trailer air brakes
and trailer coupling and 12.5R20 multi-purpose radial tires on 11 x 20
steel rims. All wheel disc brakes with spring applied / air released parking
brake are standard.
The U-1200 offers all of the features of the U-1000
with a higher GVW and more powerful, next generation engine. The U-1200
has the turbocharged Mercedes-Benz OM366A diesel engine. Developing 125
HP and offering continuous PTO outputs of 80 kW (107HP). The U-1200 with
standard SAE 1 3/8", 6 spline, involute profile is ideal for powering
a variety of snow blowers, mowers, choppers, etc.. The U-1200 has a GVW
of 16,500 lbs.
The U-1600 is the largest of the 104" wheelbase
SBU series. They feature a 156 HP turbocharged version of the Mercedes-Benz
OM366A diesel engine. GVW is 22,400 lbs. The U-1600 features a heavier
frame, axles and suspension. Making it the most powerful, compact model,
Unimog offered. These units offer continuous PTO outputs of 135 HP.
This is the new "Medium" series. Designed
from the ground up as a replacement for the older models. The U-140 features
a 156 HP turbocharged and intercooled Mercedes-Benz OM364LA diesel engine.
This engine develops 139 HP while using 21% less fuel then its predecessor.
The U-140 cab is an all new design with easy access, flat floor and unsurpassed
forward visibility. The transmission is the proven Mercedes 16 x 8 speed
full synchromesh manual.
